Nelly Calls For Positivity After Trump’s First 100 Days
|

Nelly is choosing to spread positivity as the conversation around Donald Trump’s presidency continues to stir emotions. Speaking to Fox News Digital, the rapper opened up about his decision to perform at Trump’s Liberty Ball and why he believes it’s time for people to come together rather than stay divided.
“I’m a glass half full type of guy,” Nelly said. “I’m more empowered by bringing people together and making sure we all get what we need, when we need it, and why we need it.”
Nelly’s performance at the Liberty Ball in January sparked a lot of talk online, with some fans voicing disappointment. But for the rapper, it was never about who was president. He said it was about showing respect for the office itself and what it stands for.
“I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this because it’s an honor,” he explained in a previous conversation with fellow rapper Willie D. “It don’t matter who is in office. Our brothers and sisters in the military go to war and risk their lives for whoever is in charge. If they can do that, I can perform.”
That sense of duty runs deep in Nelly’s family. He was born on a military base, and a source close to him shared that his father, aunts, and uncles all served in the military. That background gives him a unique perspective on public service and national pride.
While Nelly has made it clear that he avoids political campaigns and doesn’t align himself with any party, he views performances for the president as a chance to show unity. “The politics, for me, is over. He won. He’s the president,” Nelly said. “He’s the commander in chief of what I believe is still the best country in the world.”
He also added that if President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris had invited him to perform, he would have gladly done so. “It’s about the honor of the office, not the person holding it,” he said.
Looking back on his Liberty Ball performance, Nelly told Fox News Digital it was a moment of pride. “It was an honor to perform for the highest office in the greatest nation. Now we look to the president to step up, serve, and lift us all.”
As the country continues navigating political differences, Nelly’s message is simple. Respect the role, stay positive, and work together.
