Last week, we reported an incident in which Perry Greene, the ex-husband of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, relentlessly harassed a group of Muslim women who were trying their very best to mind their own business. Either Perry didn’t realize he was being recorded that day in the mall parking lot in Alpharetta, Ga., or he didn’t realize his public show of extra-caucasified bigotry would result in the public shaming that prompted his weak public apology four days later. Well, it turns out the ex-husband of that crazy racist lady in Congress not only had to apologize to the women he verbally abused at length, but he had to pay out $75,000 to the women to settle a claim they filed against him.

According to Fox 5, the three women, who have not been identified by their full names publicly, appeared with their attorneys for a news conference in Johns Creek Monday, where they officially accepted Greene’s apology and said they would donate the settlement money he paid to a local mosque.

“Today, I want to tell Mr. Greene that we accept his apology, and we hope that he will continue to treat others with fairness, respect, equality and dignity,” one of them said.

“We came here just to enjoy some desserts,” recalled one of the women, who was identified by her first name, Nesrine. “It was time for one of the prayers to end, so we wanted to make sure we reached it. We set our carpet up, our prayer rug, right next to our car in an empty parking spot tucked away in the corner.”

They said that after the video footage of him harassing the group for praying, wearing Muslim garb and generally just existing went viral, and before he issued the public apology, Greene reached out to them in private to offer his humble apology. Apparently, none of that grovelling for forgiveness saved Greene from having to pay out a hefty sum for his she-Klan-igans — and we should love that for him.

After all, it isn’t likely that Greene’s attitude towards people of the Islamic faith changed once he saw footage of himself repeatedly telling these women, who are from the U.S., that they should “go back to your country” because “we don’t want any Muslims.” He’s not the Islamaphobic Grinch whose heart grew three sizes the day his hate speech went viral. What happened is that Perry went from relentlessly accosting a random group of Muslims for no discernable reason outside of his hatred for Muslims to shilling out $75,000 that will likely go to keeping a mosque’s lights on — all because he couldn’t keep his bigotry to himself for the short period it took him to drive by a group of Muslims who were paying him no mind.

This story serves as a not-so-friendly reminder to bigots that minding your business and keeping your hate to yourselves are things you can do 100% free of charge.
