Jonathan Majors Admits to Being ‘Aggressive’ and Strangling Ex-Girlfriend In Unearthed Audio

Jonathan Majors, the rising actor once hailed as Hollywood’s next powerhouse who experienced a swift fall from grace following his 2023 convictions of misdemeanor assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, is now the subject of a newly unearthed audio clip in which he admits to assaulting Jabbari during a heated, days-long argument.

Shared by Rolling Stone on Monday (March 17), Grace Jabbari and Jonathan Majors can be heard discussing the alleged assault.

“I’m ashamed I’ve ever— ” Majors says. “I’ve never [been] aggressive with a woman before. I’ve never aggressed a woman — I aggressed you.”

“You strangled me and pushed me against the car,” Jabbari charges.

The September 2022 incident took place while the pair were living in London, as Majors taped the second season of the Disney+ series Loki. Court documents filed by Jabbari last April allege Majors slammed her into a car, dragged her back inside their home and strangled her.

The news and release of the years-old audio comes just days before Magazine Dreams, largely touted as James’ comeback role, was set to hit theaters.

In the film, the actor portrays Killian Maddox, a man consumed by his dream of becoming a world famous bodybuilder and one day gracing the cover of fitness magazines. Per the film’s synopsis, Maddox lives a lonely, regimented life, and his relentless drive for perfection only pushes him deeper towards self destruction, but beneath his tenacious pursuit of superstardom lies a desperate, aching need for human connection.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter ahead of his upcoming film Magazine Dreams, Jonathan Majors reveals he is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. 

“I dealt with sexual abuse from both men and women from the time I was 9. From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was f***ed up,” Majors said in the interview. 

Jonathan Majors said he enrolled in therapy after his trial and has learned how the abuse impacted his behavior in future relationships. “There are no excuses, but by getting help, you begin to understand things about yourself.”
