‘I Plan To Finish Him’: Boxing Champ Mike Tyson Comes Out Of Retirement To Fight Jake Paul

The youngest heavyweight champion in the history of boxing, Mike Tyson, 57, will return to the ring July 20 to face 27-year-old Jake Paul, who gained notoriety as a YouTube personality before turning to boxing.

Netflix, along with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), announced on March 7, that the fight will stream live on Netflix. Tyson and Paul will fight at the Dallas Cowboys’ home stadium, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The stadium has a capacity of 80,000.

Tyson has a record of 50 wins and 6 losses. Paul, who calls himself “The Problem Child,” has a record of 9-1.

“I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas,” said Tyson in a statement. “He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT.  It’s a full-circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”

Paul started making waves in his boxing career on the undercard of the Tyson-Jones fight on Nov. 28, 2020, when he knocked out former New York Knicks basketball player Nate Robinson.

“It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard. Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons,” said Paul.

No undercard match has been announced yet.
