House Democrat Calls Out ‘Certain White Folks With Low Character’ While Invoking MLK’s Name

University Presidents Testify At House Hearing On Campus Protests And Antisemitism

In today’s episode of Did A Hit Dog Just Holler? A Republican congresswoman appeared to have gotten so flustered over a democratic congressman’s suggestion that “certain white folks” could stand to be less racist that she immediately moved to get his suggestion stricken from the record before eventually changing course once she was asked to elaborate on what issue she took with the statement.

According to Mediaite, the confrontation began when Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill) was speaking during a debate on anti-ESG (environmental, social, and governance) laws. Casten used his time on the House floor to denounce the GOP and its support of the Protecting Americans’ Investments from Woke Policies Act, which, according to House Republicans, prevents the use of ESG factors when making investment decisions for retirement plans. (On a personal note, the bill also serves as a reminder of how much a rue the day white people discovered the word “woke.”)

In speaking on the importance of addressing climate change and conservative America’s persistent resistance to all things progress in the nation, Casten said: “I get it, competition is hard. It’s scary. Climate change is real. And no matter how nightmarish certain white folks of low character might find the realization of Martin Luther King’s dream, it is the only way we move forward as a society.”

Casten wasn’t specific when he mentioned who the “certain white folks of low character” were, but House Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) responded as if she just knew Casten was talking about her, her momma, and everyone she ever shared a green bean casserole dish with at the MAGA Klan potluck.

“I ask that the speaker’s words be taken down,” Foxx said, to which Casten responded by inquiring, “On what basis?”

Foxx didn’t answer Casten’s question, but after derailing the session for nearly 20 minutes, she finally withdrew her objection.

For folks who are unfamiliar with Foxx, she made headlines last year for shouting “shut up” at  ABC News reporter Rachel Scott — the award-winning Black woman journalist who drew the ire of MAGAts all over the MAGA-net after asking Trump questions he didn’t want to answer about words that came out of his own mouth during his disastrous appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) — just because Scott dared to ask about Republicans’ support for Trump’s thoroughly debunked election fraud propaganda.

So, the big takeaway here is Foxx and friends (see what I did there?) don’t want to hear about the lies they spread and they damn sure don’t want to hear about the hate they spread, so their first instinct is to shut the line of questioning down as soon as it begins lest they be put in a situation where they might have to be held accountable for something.

Sad.
