‘Bright Hope’: Read Lisa Blunt Rochester’s Inspiring DNC Speech Rejecting Project 2025
Delaware Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester — soon to be the fourth-ever Black woman elected to the U.S. Senate — delivered an inspiring speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Wednesday night by emphasizing the night’s theme of “freedom” and firmly rejecting the Republican-led Project 2025.
Blunt Rochester, 62, styled her speech after the theme of her own U.S. Senate campaign — “Bright Hope” — in a reference to the name of her grandmother’s longtime church.

If elected, Blunt Rochester would be the first woman and first Black U.S. Senator in Delaware history.
She could also become among the first Black women elected to the U.S. Senate since Kamala Harris.

I’m Lisa Blunt Rochester, mother, grandmother, Congresswoman, and hopefully… the next Senator from Delaware!
The proud home of President Biden.
We love you, Joe!
In Delaware, we know when small businesses thrive, communities thrive.
When our roads and bridges are strong, communities are strong.
When everyone has a fair shot at a better future… America is limitless.
We know this… Donald Trump doesn’t.
He and his friends have not only said the quiet parts out loud, they put it in a book — Project 2025.
With so much on the line, we’ve got to turn our biggest challenges into the brightest of hope.
Bright Hope was the name of the church my grandmother attended for seventy years.
It’s not just a name.
It’s how I approach my life.
It’s how I’ll lead as Senator.
It’s how Kamala sees the future of America.
Now, there are some who think our politics are too broken for bright hope.
But if you want to see hope — just look…
Bright hope is record numbers of Black and Brown entrepreneurs starting small businesses.
Bright hope is an OPPORTUNITY ECONOMY — where we invest in our communities.
Bright hope is four words: Madam. President. Kamala. Harris.
Are you ready for bright hope?
Are you ready to fight for our freedoms?
Are you ready to flip the House, protect the Senate, and elect Kamala Harris?
Then let’s go!
