Trump’s Latest Administration Appointment Believes ‘Competent White Men Must Be In Charge.’ Surprised?

Welp, we knew it would happen, but President Donald Trump has officially graduated from filling his administration with barely closeted white nationalists to appointing a white nationalist who doesn’t even bother with the closet at all. (Honestly, I’m probably being far too generous to Trump and the whole lot by suggesting any of them are not loud and proud of their advocacy for the preservation of white supremacy, but whatever.”

Meet Darren Beattie.

According to CNN, Beattie has been appointed to serve as the acting Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, which the State Department website describes as an appointment “to support the achievement of U.S. foreign policy goals and objectives, advance national interests, and enhance national security by informing and influencing foreign publics and by expanding and strengthening the relationship between the people and Government of the United States and citizens of the rest of the world.”

This isn’t Beattie’s first Trump Cabinet rodeo. In fact, Darren Beattie is a former Trump speechwriter who was fired in 2018 after it was revealed that he spoke at a conference attended by White nationalists such as Richard Spencer and Peter Brimelow. (This is actually kinda rich, considering Trump has literally had dinner with open white nationalists, but whatever.) After he was fired, Trump rehired him in 2020, appointing him to the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.

And just in case anyone thinks this is some kind of “guilty by association” attack on Beattie. No, he’s racist enough that actually he’s the one that might get you labeled as a white supremacist just by being associated with him.

Beattie also has made a series of racially charged comments, writing in one tweet last year, “Competent white men must be in charge if you want things to work. Unfortunately, our entire national ideology is predicated on coddling the feelings of women and minorities, and demoralizing competent white men.” He praised Dr. James Watson, the founder of modern genetics who later suggested Black people were less intelligent than White people, as the “greatest living American scientist.” Beattie repeatedly said Black lawmakers, policymakers, and groups need to “learn” their place and take “a knee to MAGA.”

“‘Shithole countries’ was the high point of Trump’s presidency,” he wrote in 2020.

Darren Beattie also posted in 2020 a deeply misogynistic tweet attacking Taylor Swift for opposing a monument in Tennessee’s Capitol honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate general and early leader of the Ku Klux Klan, comparing her advocacy to performing sexual favors for music producers.

“That celebrities are required to debase themselves with such statements is, in some ways, even more humiliating than the physical favors they are required to perform for their producers,” he wrote.

Actually, Beattie is perfect for this administration. He believes only white men are competent enough to work important jobs (like Trump); he believes white people are genetically superior to “minorities” (like Trump); and he believes that even the most racist, anti-Black slavery advocates to ever grip a musket for the Confederacy should be honored as American heroes (just like his orangey-white nationalist MAGA messiah).

Also, like Trump, Beattie was a fierce advocate for the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters.

“Based,” Beattie wrote, using slang to express strong agreement, in a since-removed tweet about a video of police clashing with Trump supporters on the Capitol steps. “The forgotten man speaks,” Beattie wrote in another deleted tweet about rioters in the US Senate chamber. As the attack unfolded, Beattie wrote in a still-active tweet, “The FBI should take a knee to show respect to the MAGA protestors.”

Following the riot, Darren Beattie wrote in another deleted tweet at approximately 11 p.m., “This color revolution is red, white and blue.”

So, Trump has appointed a proud racist who is a Klan commemoration advocate and a cheerleader for the domestic terrorists the president inspired to attack democracy to be a top leader in public diplomacy and public affairs.
