Mask Off: Racist Trump Rally Comedian Tells Black, Latino Voters How MAGA Really Feels About Them
If there was any confusion about how Donald Trump and his most rabid supporters feel about racial minorities in the U.S., including American citizens, a MAGA comedian made it all very clear during a rally for the Republican presidential nominee at the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Warming up the crowd on Sunday, Tony Hinchcliffe took the stage at the arena in Manhattan and proceeded to tell a string of unabashedly racist jokes that targeted Black people as well as Latinos in a city where people from those backgrounds make up a significant portion of the population.
For instance, Hinchcliffe called out an audience member – “a Black guy” – who was wearing an apparent costume before dropping the punchline: “He had a Halloween party last night. We had fun, we carved watermelons together.”
That “joke” was greeted by laughter.
But not as much laughter as when Hinchcliffe turned his attention to the topic of immigration. Hinchcliffe shared a lewd anecdote about Latinos based on racist stereotypes.
“These Latinos, they love making babies, too. Just know that they do,” Hinchcliffe said before adding: “There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside, just like they did to our country.”
Hinchcliffe then set his sights on attacking Puerto Rico, an American territory that is home to American citizens.
“I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe said to applause.
Trump’s warm-up act performed as Republicans have boasted of their gains with Black and Latino voters, coveted demographics that could play an outsize role in determining the next president.
As mentioned, Hinchcliffe was only the warm-up act.
When it came time for Trump to hit the stage, he delivered what CNN described as “the most extreme closing argument in modern presidential history.”
Reuters reported last week that “Trump has nearly erased Democrats’ longstanding advantage among Hispanic men ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election” and is only trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by 2% with that voting bloc.
Polling released last week shows that about 25% of Black men intend to vote for Trump, too.
With just eight days to go before Election Day, perhaps Hinchcliffe’s performance of racist commentary and confessions disguised as jokes will sway those Black and Latino voters who have been leaning toward Trump to lend their support to Harris’ campaign.
This is America.
